“No serious futurist deals in prediction. These are left for television oracles and newspaper astrologers.”–Alvin Toffler
The newly released volume, After Shock, features 50 of the world’s most renowned futurists reflecting on the 50-year legacy of Alvin Toffler’s Future Shock, and looking ahead to the next 50 years. Seven of the contributors have been guests on Seeking Delphi™ This is the sevneth and final in a series of repeats of these podcasts, which will lead up to panel discussion with some of the authors, on the book and the Toffler legacy.
In this episode from the opening reception of the July, 2017 Association of Professional Futurists meeting in Seattle, Washington, we’ll hear three of those contributors. Cindy Frewen and and Richard Yonck, both of whom previously were heard on Seeking Delphi and in this repeat series, and Andy Hines, who was being heard for the first time. Several other APF members are also heard, answering the question, what is a futurist?
The day I read Future Shock, just a couple of years after it came out, was the day that started me on the course to becoming a futurist. Here’s what I wrote on this blog when Toffler died in July of 2016.

The most common question that I get asked, when I tell somebody I’m a futurist, is “what is a futurist?” From now on, I’ll tell them to listen to this podcast. From the Association of Professional Futurists annual meeting, Seattle, Washington, July 27, 2017.
